ASTRO in the News đź“°
New coverage from The Guam Daily Post takes a deep look at ASTRO’s GAMMA initiative and why building advanced manufacturing capability in Guam is increasingly becoming a readiness story for the U.S. Navy.
The article recaps ASTRO’s RAPID + TCT panel in Boston and outlines what GAMMA is being built to do: enable on-demand, Navy-grade replacement parts and sustainment support closer to Pacific operations, backed by the Navy’s Submarine Industrial Base. It also highlights GAMMA’s broader vision for workforce development and long-term economic impact on Guam. 🇬🇺

ASTRO in Action 🎤
Last month, ASTRO participated in the 2026 AI+ Expo in Washington, D.C., hosted by the Special Competitive Studies Project (SCSP). ASTRO President Neal Orringer joined the panel “Advanced Manufacturing and Critical Minerals for Defense,” moderated by Roosevelt Group Principal Matthew Herrmann. The discussion focused on how advanced manufacturing is helping equip the warfighter, what it will take to accelerate qualification timelines for additively manufactured components, and why securing supply chains for critical minerals remains central to national security.
We appreciate SCSP and The Roosevelt Group for convening a timely conversation, and thank the other panelists Nate Bode (Impossible Objects, Inc.) and Brian Reid (Indium Corporation) for their sharp insights.Â

Additionally in May, ASTRO’s Alex Benham and Dr. Lee Yudin participated in the University of Guam (UOG) Master of Public Administration candidates’ Administrative  Law Forum, which convened leaders from across government, industry, and the community for a practical conversation about the decisions and systems that will shape Guam in the years ahead.
Alex and Dr. Yudin joined Panel 1, “Economic Growth, Public-Private Partnerships, and Long-Term Governance under the Guam Organic Act,” focused on strengthening economic resilience in Guam, advancing public-private collaboration, and examining long-term governance considerations under the Act. We appreciate UOG for convening this important forum and creating space for solutions-oriented discussion.
